What’s new
The historical emissions module now supports richer documentation for each emission record. We have added two new fields that make it easier to track and justify historical carbon footprint data imported from outside Dcycle.
The first field is a free-text description where you can explain what the recorded emissions represent, their source, or any relevant context. The second field allows you to attach an evidence file in PDF, Excel, or CSV format to support the data you have entered.
These improvements address a common need among our clients: the ability to link supporting documentation to historical emission records, particularly for audits, third-party verifications, and regulatory compliance.
How it works
Navigate to the Historical Emissions module from the sidebar under the Data section. When creating or editing a historical emission, you will find two new fields in the form:
- Description: a text field where you can provide context about the emission record. For example, the data source, methodology used, or any relevant clarifications.
- Evidence file: a button to select and upload a PDF, Excel (.xlsx, .xls), or CSV file. The file is linked to the emission record and also appears automatically in the My Files section, where you can access it at any time. In the historical emissions table, both fields are visible as new columns. The description appears truncated with a tooltip to view the full text, and the file name is a direct download link.
Why it matters
Having supporting documentation linked directly to each historical emission record significantly improves data traceability. This is especially valuable during third-party verification processes, internal audits, and for demonstrating compliance with regulations such as the GHG Protocol standards or national carbon footprint requirements.
By centralizing evidence within Dcycle, you reduce the risk of losing documentation and simplify the document management associated with your organization’s carbon footprint.
