Environment
Energy and emissions (including your carbon footprint), water, waste, biodiversity and product life cycle.
An EcoVadis project with the criteria sorted by theme. Each criterion shows whether it has a policy, action, certification and coverage, Leia tells you which evidence is missing and the same project shows which suppliers have responded.
GDPR compliant · data hosted in Europe · ISO 27001
2,000+ companies already manage their sustainability data with Dcycle
EcoVadis almost always arrives through a customer. Filling in the questionnaire takes hours; gathering the documents for each theme is what takes weeks.
The Criteria tab sorts the criteria by theme: environment, labor and human rights, ethics and sustainable procurement. Each row shows whether the criterion is covered, weak or empty, its answer, the owner and how many attachments it has. When you open it, Leia tells you what is missing, for example that the ISO 14001 certificate expires in two months, and you upload the evidence right there.
The Suppliers tab uses the same table as Dcycle’s supplier risk assessment: contact, sector, response status, risk score, emissions, spend and date sent. You add suppliers, send them the campaign and see who is still missing.
The overview shows the reporting period, the organizations included, the deadline and the days left on the questionnaire, the files that need attention, the criteria completed and the suppliers that have responded. The Dashboard groups by theme the metrics you present as results, each with its criterion code and the change against the previous year.
EcoVadis is the most widespread sustainability assessment in supply chains. It is not a certification: it is a rating based on a document review. There is no audit at your plant; analysts review the evidence you upload and cross-check it with external information. That is why the real work is gathering and organizing evidence by theme.
Scoring scale
The overall score combines the 4 themes, weighted by your industry, size and country.
Themes assessed
Environment, Labor and human rights, Ethics and Sustainable procurement.
Medals
Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum. Awarded by percentile, not by a fixed score.
Criteria
The 4 themes break down into up to 21 criteria tailored to your activity.
Companies assessed
It is the sustainability rating most requested across large supply chains.
Typical duration
From the moment you submit the questionnaire until you receive the scorecard.
Energy and emissions (including your carbon footprint), water, waste, biodiversity and product life cycle.
Health and safety, working conditions, social dialogue, diversity and human rights across the chain.
Anti-corruption, fair competitive practices, responsible information management and data security.
Your suppliers’ social and environmental practices and how you monitor and improve them.
Within each theme, EcoVadis evaluates these seven indicators. Each theme weighs differently depending on your industry, size and country, and the questionnaire is tailored: not every company answers the same questions.
Formal commitments and policies, documented and dated, by theme.
External initiatives and standards you commit to (UN Global Compact, SBTi…).
Concrete actions already implemented, not just intentions.
Valid certificates (ISO 14001, ISO 45001…) that back up your practices.
How much of the organization your policies and actions actually cover.
Measurable indicators and results, published and verifiable.
External information (press, NGOs, unions) that EcoVadis cross-checks about your company.
Medals depend on your position against every company assessed in the previous 12 months, from any industry and country, calculated on the day your scorecard is published. You also need at least 30 points in each theme. If you repeat your score you can drop a medal without having got worse.
| Recognition | Percentile or threshold | Who gets it |
|---|---|---|
| Platinum | Top 1% | Absolute sustainability leaders |
| Gold | Top 5% | Advanced and consistent performance |
| Silver | Top 15% | Good performance, above average |
| Bronze | Top 35% | Solid practices in development |
| Committed | No medal · score of 45 or above | Companies with strong performance that fall short of a medal |
| Fast Mover | No medal · 34 to 44 with +6 points in 18 months | Companies improving fast from a mid-range baseline |
The company being assessed pays an annual subscription, not the customer requesting the scorecard. Indicative prices as of 16 September 2026: EcoVadis adjusts them by size, revenue and country, so always confirm the current rate before deciding.
| Plan | Indicative price | What it includes |
|---|---|---|
| Basic | from ~€1,080/year | Full scorecard. No medal or badge. |
| Premium | from ~€1,500/year | Medal or badge, plus the assessment of a few partners. |
| Select | from ~€4,700/year | More partner assessments and priority timelines. |
| Corporate | from ~€7,650/year | Groups and multi-company structures. |
From submitting the questionnaire to receiving the scorecard usually takes 6 to 8 weeks. Before that comes evidence gathering, which is what takes longest.
EcoVadis rewards policies backed by actions and results, and measurable progress year over year. Without energy and emissions data there are no results to show in the environment theme.
Link every answer to a policy, an action and a result (P-A-R model): signed and dated policies, implemented actions rather than plans, measurable results and supplier evidence for Sustainable procurement.
Compare what you have with what the scorecard asks for and prioritize by impact: find weak or missing evidence, fix first the gaps that block several answers and version your documentation between reassessments.
Measure your carbon footprint for the environment theme, assign an owner to each theme and schedule updates before the deadline.
It is a rating based on a document review, not a certification audited at your facilities.
A policy on its own scores little. The model rewards policy plus action plus result.
Collecting documents by theme takes weeks. Start as soon as you have the questionnaire.
It has the lowest average score of the four themes and depends least on your internal management: it forces you to pass requirements on to your suppliers.
EcoVadis cross-checks press, NGOs and unions. Sanctions or convictions can block the medal even if your score is high enough.
The bar is set by the rest of the market. If you repeat your score you can drop a medal without having got worse.
The environment theme requires energy and emissions data; without measurement there are no results to show.
Different units, periods or scopes across themes undermine the credibility of the whole scorecard.
They are often confused, but they cover different things. Many share data, so you do not start from scratch.
| Framework | What it is | Relationship with EcoVadis |
|---|---|---|
| CDP | Climate, water and forests questionnaire aimed at investors. | They share environmental data: you can reuse your CDP for the EcoVadis environment theme. |
| SMETA (Sedex) | On-site social audit at the plant. | EcoVadis is document-based and broader (it adds ethics and procurement); SMETA audits factory conditions. |
| B Corp | Certification for purpose-driven companies. | B Corp certifies the whole company; EcoVadis scores by assessment for your B2B customers. |
| ISO 26000 | Social responsibility guidance, not certifiable. | EcoVadis draws on its principles; ISO 26000 gives no score or medal. |

Read the guideEcoVadis is a sustainability rating that assesses a company’s ESG performance across four themes (Environment, Labor and human rights, Ethics and Sustainable procurement) and assigns a score from 0 to 100. More than 130,000 companies use it, mainly to respond to what their customers request across the supply chain. It is not a certification: it is a document-based assessment built on evidence.
No. EcoVadis is a rating obtained after a document-based assessment of your policies, actions and results. It does not involve an audit at your facilities, as SMETA and other plant certifications do.
There are four medals by percentile: Platinum (top 1%), Gold (top 5%), Silver (top 15%) and Bronze (top 35%). EcoVadis does not publish the exact score because it depends on the companies assessed in the previous 12 months. You also need at least 30 points in each of the four themes.
The company being assessed pays an annual subscription. As a rough guide, the plans run from around €1,080/year (Basic, no medal) to the Corporate plan for groups. EcoVadis adjusts the price by size, revenue and country, so it is worth confirming the current rate.
Between 6 and 8 weeks from the moment you submit the complete questionnaire with evidence. The part that usually blows the timeline is not the assessment itself, but gathering the documentation by theme.
Four themes broken down into up to 21 criteria, evaluated through seven management indicators: policies, endorsements, measures, certifications, coverage, reporting and the external 360° Watch findings.
By building solid evidence per theme with the policy-action-result model, closing the gaps that block several answers and demonstrating measurable progress year over year. Measuring your carbon footprint is key for the Environment theme.
The scorecard is valid for 12 months. Reassessment is annual, and because medal thresholds are recalculated every year, keeping the same score can mean dropping a percentile.
CDP is an environmental questionnaire aimed at investors; EcoVadis is a broader ESG rating aimed at customers. They share environmental data, so you can reuse much of your CDP for the EcoVadis Environment theme.
It is the recognition for companies with 45 points or above that do not reach a medal. There is another badge, Fast Mover, for scores between 34 and 44 with an improvement of at least 6 points over the previous assessment within 18 months. Medal holders cannot hold a badge.
Yes. Data from your carbon footprint, CDP or CSRD reporting feed several EcoVadis themes. Centralizing it avoids redoing the work for each questionnaire.
The company being assessed bears the cost of the subscription. The customer is the one who requests your scorecard, but they do not pay for your assessment.
No. EcoVadis awards the score and the medal after reviewing your documentation. Dcycle organizes the criteria and the evidence by theme, tells you what each criterion is missing and brings together the footprint and supplier data you present as results. The score by pillar you see in the project is an internal reference, not your EcoVadis score.
Yes. In the demo we review your latest scorecard if you have one, see where you lose points, which evidence you can reuse from CDP or CSRD and what is realistic before your deadline. We do not guarantee a score or a medal: we tell you where you stand and what to prioritize.
30 minutes: the criteria by theme with their evidence, what each one is missing and the Suppliers tab. If you have your latest scorecard, we look at where you lose points and what to prioritize before your deadline. We do not guarantee a score or medal.
